"Simplicity, Personalisation, Enjoyment. This evening has all three critical elements for a successful event". This was the opening remark from author Elmari Swart arriving at the launch of South Africa's first signature wedding book, 100 Words about Weddings — The artistry of Aleit.
On 05 December 2007, Cheviot Publishing in conjunction with Aleit Wedding Coordination launched South Africa's first signature wedding book, "100 WORDS ABOUT WEDDINGS — THE ARTISTRY OF ALEIT", at a glittering cocktail event hosted at Clouds Estate, Stellenbosch. Guests were greeted by the soothing sounds of cellist Babette le Roux as they made their way to the Pavilion. Flowers in the Foyer highlighted the architectural lines of the Pavilion with a striking green and white theme — single stem white lilies and delightful posy floral arrangements, silver candelabra and gentle candle light. As the golden hue of sunset played over the Drakenstein Mountain range, Something Different Concepts and Shows ensured a fairy-lit garden that added to the naturally beautiful surroundings.
Guests were treated to delicate canapés from Dish Food and Social, of which the G&T frozen lollipops and sesame seed crispy duck pancakes were definite favourites. Also on the menu were fine wines from local producers and a wickedly indulgent chocolate truffle ensemble prepared by Lindt's Chocolate Studio in Cape Town.
MC Jaap Scholten welcomed guests with a brief recount of the importance of history. "On this day in 1766 the UK-based auction house Christie's held their first event. Today, Christies sells in excess of £2.51 billion per annum. Walt Disney was born on this day in 1901, in Chicago, Illinois. Every one of us holds dear the stories with which Walt Disney's charming characters entertain us. Today, 5 December 2007 will now also be an important date to remember for you as guests, but also for the South African wedding industry as a whole. Because on this day we are launching South Africa's first signature wedding book, set to change the industry for coordinators, suppliers and wedding couples alike."
Aleit Swanepoel from The Aleit Group took centre stage with a concise but very poignant few words on his first book. "My aim with this book is to educate couples world wide, ensuring that each and every wedding projects the unique individuality of both the bride and the groom". As grand finale, author Elmari Swart delighted guests as she opened the sealed box of books in dramatic fashion and handed Aleit the very first copy: "With this book, I as the author, declare '100 Words about Weddings' officially launched!"
